Fayzabad is a city in northeastern Afghanistan and the capital of Badakhshan Province, sitting within its own Fayzabad District. The city is home to Badakhshan University and Fayzabad Airport, which provides limited domestic flights. It has grown into a regional center with bazaars, business centers, public parks, hospitals and mosques serving the surrounding province.
