Amaravati

Amaravati is the capital city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, located in Guntur district on the right bank of the Krishna River, southwest of Vijayawada and northwest of Guntur. The city takes its name from the nearby historic site of Amaravathi, which served as the capital of the Satavahana Empire nearly two thousand years ago. It is an urban notified area whose development is undertaken by the Amaravati Development Corporation Limited and the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority, spanning about 217 square kilometers and drawing on villages from three mandals.
