Angel Falls

Angel Falls, known locally by the Pemon name Kerepakupai Vena, is the world's tallest uninterrupted waterfall, plunging from the edge of the Auyan-tepui plateau in Canaima National Park in Venezuela's Bolivar State. It has a total height of 979 meters, including a main plunge of 807 meters plus about 400 meters of sloped cascade and rapids below, fed by the Kerepakupai Vena River, a tributary that flows on through the Churun and then the Carrao River. The waterfall is named for the American aviator Jimmie Angel, who first flew over it in 1933, and lies within Canaima National Park, itself a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
