The largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere, a shallow remnant of the vast prehistoric Lake Bonneville in the U.S. state of Utah. Its water level and salinity fluctuate substantially with rainfall and upstream water use, and recent decades of shrinkage have raised concern over exposed lakebed dust.
