Lake Managua

Lake Managua, also known as Lake Xolotlan, is a freshwater lake in Nicaragua covering about 1,042 square kilometers, roughly 65 kilometers long and 25 kilometers wide. Its alternate name, like that of Lake Nicaragua, comes from the Nahuatl language, most likely from the Nicarao people who had already settled the region before Spanish contact. The city of Managua, Nicaragua's capital, lies on its southwestern shore.
