A major river of Southeast Asia rising on the Tibetan Plateau and flowing roughly 4,300 kilometers through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam to the South China Sea. It sustains one of the world's largest inland fisheries and the rice-growing economies of the countries it passes through.
