One of India's major rivers and the largest west-flowing river on the subcontinent, rising in Madhya Pradesh and flowing through a rift valley to the Arabian Sea. It is considered sacred in Hindu tradition and is unusual among Indian rivers for being circumambulated by pilgrims along its entire length.
