Abinsk is a town in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, and the administrative center of Abinsky District, about 75 kilometers southwest of Krasnodar, with a population of 39,058 recorded in 2020. It was founded in 1836 on the site of a former Circassian settlement as a Cossack village and one of the empire's Caucasus fortresses, and it also served as a place of exile, holding Decembrists including Bestuzhev, Odoevsky and Katenin. The town was known as Abinskaya until its name was shortened in 1963.
