Abyla was the pre-Roman name for the settlement the Romans renamed Ad Septem Fratres, usually shortened to Septem or Septa. Ad Septem Fratres was a Roman colony in the province of Mauretania Tingitana and later a Byzantine outpost in the exarchate of Africa. Its ruins lie within present-day Ceuta, an autonomous Spanish city on the northwest coast of Africa.
