Acs is a town in Komarom-Esztergom county in northern Hungary, on the eastern edge of the Little Hungarian Plain near where the Conco River meets the Danube, about eight kilometers southwest of Komarno. The settlement dates to Roman times, when the forts of Ad Mures and Ad Statuas stood in the area, and its name, meaning carpenter in Hungarian, refers to royal carpenters recorded there in the thirteenth century. It was raised to a large village in 1970 and received town status on 1 July 2007.
