Agra is a city on the banks of the Yamuna river in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, about 230 kilometers southeast of the national capital Delhi. Once the capital of the Mughal Empire, Agra is famous worldwide as the home of the Taj Mahal, the marble mausoleum built by Emperor Shah Jahan, along with the Agra Fort and other Mughal-era monuments that make it one of India's most visited cities.
