Alabanda was an ancient city in the region of Caria in what is now Aydin Province, Turkey, with its ruins situated near the modern town of Cine. Tradition credited its founding to the Carian hero Alabandus, and the city belonged to the Chrysaorian League, a federation of neighboring Carian cities joined by economic and defensive ties. Renamed Antiochia of the Chrysaorians under the Seleucid king Antiochus III, Alabanda later became a Roman administrative center and a Byzantine bishopric, and it remains a titular see of the Catholic Church today.
