Alfeld, also known as Alfeld (Leine), is a town in the state of Lower Saxony, Germany, on the Leine river about 20 kilometers southwest of Hildesheim. It is the second-biggest town in Hildesheim district, part of the Hannover-Braunschweig-Gottingen-Wolfsburg metropolitan region and the Leinebergland region, and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011 through its Fagus Factory.
