Alopeconnesus, also spelled Alopekonnesos, was an ancient Greek city on the western coast of ancient Thrace, in the region of the Thracian Chersonesus. It was founded as an Aeolian colony, said to take its name from an oracle directing the settlers to found their colony where they first met a fox with its cub. During the period of Macedonian ascendancy the city was allied with, and under the protection of, Athens, and it minted its own coinage in antiquity.
