Alorus, also called Aloros, was a town of ancient Macedonia in the district of Bottiaea, placed by Stephanus of Byzantium in the innermost recess of the Thermaic Gulf and, according to the Periplus of Pseudo-Scylax, situated between the rivers Haliacmon and Lydias. It was chiefly known as the birthplace of Ptolemy of Alorus, who seized the Macedonian throne after the murder of Alexander II, and also as the birthplace of Pantauchus, a general of Alexander the Great.
