Amlapura is the seat of Karangasem Regency in eastern Bali, Indonesia, with a 2010 census population of 37,308 across 3.048 square kilometers. Originally called Kuta Negara Karangasem, it took its current name in 1963 after the eruption of Mount Agung destroyed most of its colonial-era government buildings and forced reconstruction of the administrative center, and it has won Indonesia's Adipura Award three times as the country's cleanest small city.
