Ancient Pydna was a settlement in Pieria, Central Macedonia, Greece, on the Aegean coast about 16 kilometers northeast of Katerini and 28 kilometers from Dion, near the modern village of Makrygialos. It is an important archaeological site for the history of Pieria, where the French archaeologist Heuzey uncovered two Macedonian tombs during his mid-nineteenth-century travels, and the fortified bishop residence of Louloudies lies a few kilometers to its south.
