Aral, also known as Aralsk, is a small city in south-western Kazakhstan and the administrative center of Aral District in the Kyzylorda region. It was formerly a fishing port and harbor city on the banks of the Aral Sea and a major supplier of fish to the surrounding region, with a population of roughly 30,000.
