Argilus, also spelled Argilos, was a city of ancient Macedonia in the district of Bisaltia, between Amphipolis and Bromiscus, founded by colonists from Andros. Herodotus places it near the route Xerxes I army took during the Greco-Persian Wars, and its territory reached the right bank of the Strymon river. A member of the Delian League, Argilus joined the Spartan general Brasidas during his Chalcidian campaign in 424 BCE out of rivalry with neighboring Amphipolis, and its neutrality was recognized under the Peace of Nicias in 421 BCE.
