Assen is a city and municipality in the northeastern Netherlands and the capital of the province of Drenthe. It received city rights in 1809 and is known for the TT Circuit Assen motorcycle racing circuit, home to the annual Dutch TT held on the last Sunday in June, and for the annual Assen Dance Festival.
