Asti is a comune in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, about 55 kilometers east of Turin in the plain of the Tanaro River, with 74,348 inhabitants as of 1 January 2021. It is the capital of the Province of Asti and is regarded as the modern capital of Montferrat.
