Atalanta, also called Allante or Allantium, was an ancient city of Bottiaea in Macedon, situated between Gortynia and Europos in the upper valley of the Axius river. It may have been built by the Bottiaeans before their expulsion by the Macedonians into Bottike. Modern Axioupoli, in the Kilkis regional unit, claims to occupy the ancient site, though the historian N. G. L. Hammond placed the city instead between Athyra and Koufalia.
