Balatonfured is a resort town of about 13,000 people in Veszprem county, Hungary, on the northern shore of Lake Balaton, where it is regarded as the capital of the northern lake shore. It is a center for yachting and fishing, though the introduction of non-native species such as eels has damaged the local aquatic environment.
