Baler is a municipality and the capital of Aurora province in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines, established by Franciscan missionaries in 1609. It is the birthplace of Philippine president Manuel L. Quezon and was the site of the 1899 Siege of Baler, which ended Spanish colonial rule in the country; its 2024 census population was 44,684. The town is formally recognized as the birthplace of Philippine surfing.
