Balve is a town in the Markischer Kreis district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, in the Honnetal, a narrow valley cut by the river Honne, near the Sorpe Dam and at the north end of the Sauerland close to Dortmund. The modern town was established in 1975 from the merger of several divisions including Balve, Beckum and Eisborn and Garbeck.
