Bangued is the capital and largest municipality of Abra province, in the Cordillera Administrative Region of the Philippines. Formally inaugurated in 1861, it takes its name from the Ilocano word for roadblock, recalling Tinguian resistance to Spanish rule, and its 2024 census population was 48,331. The town serves as Abra own administrative center, home to the provincial capitol, and its economy rests mainly on rice and corn farming.
