Beit Hanoun, also spelled Beit Hanun, is a Palestinian city on the northeast edge of the Gaza Strip, near the Nahal Hanun stream about 6 kilometers from the Israeli city of Sderot. The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics recorded a population of 52,237 in 2017. The area has been militarily contested between the Hamas administration and Israel during the Gaza war, and its own source describes it as a destroyed and depopulated city as a result.
