Bergamo is a city in the Lombardy region of northern Italy and the seat of the province of Bergamo. It lies approximately 40 kilometers northeast of Milan, about 30 kilometers from the alpine lakes Como and Iseo, and 70 kilometers from Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore. The Bergamo Alps rise immediately to the city's north.
