Bireuen, also spelled Bireun, is an Indonesian town and the seat of the Bireuen Regency government in the Aceh Special Territory of Sumatra. The town covers 16.91 square kilometers and had a population of 44,604 at the 2010 census, rising to 47,670 at the 2020 census, with an official mid-2022 estimate of 47,983.
