Bogor is a landlocked city in West Java, Indonesia, about 53 kilometers south of Jakarta and part of the Jakarta metropolitan area. Its population was about 1.08 million in mid-2024. Once the capital of the Sunda Kingdom as Pakuan Pajajaran and later the Dutch colonial retreat of Buitenzorg, Bogor is nicknamed the "Rainy City" and is known for its colonial-era architecture, a presidential palace and the Bogor Botanical Gardens, among the oldest and largest in the world.
