Boise is the capital and most populous city in the U.S. state of Idaho and the county seat of Ada County, on the Boise River in southwestern Idaho, roughly 41 miles east of the Oregon border and 110 miles north of Nevada. Its metropolitan area, in the Treasure Valley region, spans five Idaho counties and holds about 846,000 residents.
