Bóly

Boly is a town in Baranya County in southern Hungary, part of the Boly District. Until the end of the Second World War it was home to a substantial Danube Swabian community whose ancestors had arrived from the German district of Fulda in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, but most of that community was expelled to Allied-occupied territory between 1945 and 1948 under the Potsdam Agreement, and the towns population today is made up largely of Hungarians who arrived through the population exchanges with Czechoslovakia that followed. Boly maintains sister city relationships with towns in Austria, Germany, Romania and Slovakia.
