Bradford is a city in West Yorkshire, England. It became a municipal borough in 1847 and received a city charter in 1897; since a 1974 local government reform, city status has belonged to the larger City of Bradford metropolitan borough. The 2021 census recorded a population of 352,317 in the city itself, the second largest subdivision of the West Yorkshire Built-up Area after Leeds, while the wider metropolitan borough had 546,976 residents, one of the most populous districts in England.
