Broome is a coastal pearling and tourist town in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, about 2,046 kilometers north of Perth, with 14,660 residents at the 2021 census, the largest town in the Kimberley. Also known as Rubibi to the indigenous Yawuru people, Broome has deep historical ties to the pearling industry dating back to the 1880s. It is home to Sun Picture Garden, the oldest operating open air cinema in the world.
