Budakeszi is a town in Pest County in the Budapest metropolitan area of Hungary, about 12 kilometers west of central Budapest beyond János Hill, with a population of 15,950 in 2025. The settlement first appears in written records around 1270 and was devastated during the 1541 Ottoman siege of Buda. After the 1683 Battle of Vienna the area was resettled with German speaking immigrants and remained a predominantly ethnic German village for centuries, until its German population was deported after the Second World War under the 1945 Potsdam Agreement.
