Buluan is a municipality and the capital of Maguindanao del Sur province, in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. Established on August 8, 1947 under Executive Order No. 82, it had a 2024 census population of 60,931 across 699.50 square kilometers. Buluan was designated the province capital under Republic Act No. 11550, and the provincial council recognized it as such in 2014, resolving a decades old absence of a permanent provincial capitol tied to local clan politics.
