Calapan is a component city and the capital of Oriental Mindoro province, in the Mimaropa region of the Philippines. Founded on January 2, 1917 and granted cityhood on March 21, 1998, it had a 2024 census population of 148,558 across 250.06 square kilometers, the most populous settlement on the island of Mindoro. Known as the Gateway to the Golden Isle, the city serves as the regional center of Mimaropa and its Port of Calapan is the largest and busiest seaport on Mindoro Island.
