Cañete is a city and commune in Chile, located in the Arauco Province of the Biobío Region, about 135 kilometers south of Concepción. It is known as a Historic City, one of the oldest cities in the country. The Battle of Tucapel and the death of Pedro de Valdivia took place near the city's current location, and Cañete was an important site during the Arauco War.
