Carrara is a town and comune in Tuscany, in central Italy, in the province of Massa and Carrara, notable for the white or blue-grey marble quarried there. It sits on the Carrione River, about 100 kilometers west-northwest of Florence, and its motto, the Latin Fortitudo mea in rota, refers to the marble shipping industry dating from Roman times.
