Catarman is a municipality and the capital of Northern Samar province, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines. One of the original thirteen Spanish era pueblo settlements on Samar Island, it had a 2024 census population of 97,738 across 464.43 square kilometers, the most populous municipality in Eastern Visayas. The town became the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Catarman in 1974 and hosts the University of Eastern Philippines, the first state university in the Visayas.
