Celje is the third-largest city in Slovenia, a regional centre of the traditional Slovenian region of Styria and the administrative seat of the Urban Municipality of Celje. It lies below Upper Celje Castle at the confluence of the Savinja, Hudinja, Locnica, and Voglajna rivers in the lower Savinja Valley, at the crossing of roads connecting Ljubljana, Maribor, Velenje, and the Central Sava Valley.
