Chiba is the capital city of Chiba Prefecture, Japan, sitting about 40 kilometers east of central Tokyo on Tokyo Bay, with a population of about 983,000 as of March 2025. Designated a government-ordinance city in 1992, Chiba is closely integrated into the wider Tokyo metropolitan area and is known for hosting the Makuhari Messe convention center and for its proximity to Narita International Airport and Tokyo Disney Resort, both located within Chiba Prefecture.
