Cianjur is a town and district in West Java, Indonesia, administrative seat of Cianjur Regency, about 120 kilometers northwest of Jakarta and 60 kilometers east of Bandung, with an estimated 2025 population of 178,798. Founded in 1677 under first leader R. A. Wiratanudatar I, it lies on a historic route between Jakarta and Bandung and has suffered major earthquakes, including a magnitude 7.0 quake in 2009 and a magnitude 5.6 quake in 2022 that killed more than 330 people and injured over 7,700.
