Ciudad Victoria is the capital city of the Mexican state of Tamaulipas and the seat of the Municipality of Victoria, located in northeastern Mexico at the foot of the Sierra Madre Oriental. It borders the municipality of Guemez to the north, Llera to the south, Casas Municipality to the east and Jaumave to the west, and lies 246 kilometers from Monterrey and 319 kilometers from the US-Mexico border. The city is named after Guadalupe Victoria, the first president of Mexico.
