Colón, Entre Ríos

Colón is a city on the western bank of the Uruguay River in Entre Ríos Province, Argentina, directly across from the Uruguayan city of Paysandú and connected to it by the General Artigas Bridge. It was founded on April 12, 1863, by Justo José de Urquiza, Argentina's first constitutional president, and grew from nearby agricultural colonies settled by European, particularly Swiss, immigrants. The 2010 census recorded about 23,150 residents, and the city is promoted as Entre Ríos' Provincial Capital of Tourism, with roughly 14 kilometres of river beach, hot springs, and proximity to the Yatay palm forests of El Palmar National Park.
