Concord is the capital city of the U.S. state of New Hampshire and the seat of Merrimack County, the third most populous city in the state after Manchester and Nashua. First settled by Europeans in 1659, it received its current name in 1765 to signify harmony following a boundary dispute. The New Hampshire State House, completed in 1819, remains the oldest U.S. state capitol where the legislature meets in its original chambers.
