Curanilahue is a Chilean commune and city in Arauco Province, in the Biobío Region, its name derived from Mapudungun words meaning stone ford. The 2002 census recorded 31,943 residents in the commune, most of them urban, a five percent decline from the 1992 count. Curanilahue is represented in Chile's Chamber of Deputies as part of the 46th electoral district alongside seven other communes.
