Delphi was an ancient sacred precinct in central Greece, on the southwestern slope of Mount Parnassus in Phocis. It was the seat of the Pythia, the major oracle consulted about important decisions throughout the ancient classical world, and the ancient Greeks believed it marked the center of the world, marked by the Omphalos stone; the precinct is a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized for the many monuments built there by the leading Greek city states.
