Denizli

Denizli is a city in the Aegean region of Turkey, seat of Denizli Province, at an elevation of 324 meters. Known in antiquity as the Greek town of Attouda, it flourished through the Greek, Roman and Byzantine periods before falling to the Seljuk Turks and remained relatively peaceful through the centuries that followed. The 2024 population was 1,061,371 in the city with 691,783 in the urban area, and the city has seen substantial economic development in recent decades driven by textile production and exports. Denizli also draws tourism from the nearby thermal springs and ancient sites of Pamukkale, with its mineral-coated hillside, and the ruins of Hierapolis and Laodicea, and the rooster serves as the city's symbolic emblem.
