Devonport is a port city at the mouth of the Mersey River on Tasmania's northwest coast, Australia, about 47 kilometers east of Burnie and 98 kilometers north of Launceston. It was formed in 1893 by merging the 1850s settlements of Torquay and Formby, and gained city status in 1981; it recorded an urban population of 26,150 at the 2021 census, making it Tasmania's third largest city. Devonport is Tasmania's busiest freight port and hosts the Spirit of Tasmania ferry terminal, which carried over 450,000 passengers in 2022 and 2023 on roll-on roll-off services to mainland Australia.
